Welcome to the Center for Rotating Machinery. The Center for Rotating Machinery (CeRoM) at LSU was established is one of the top priorities of the College of Engineering’s Strategic Planning Initiative. The Center focuses on interdisciplinary research and development in close collaboration with industry. By providing cutting-edge technological innovations to solve complex problems in engineering systems, the CeRoM serves as an intellectual foundation to the industry with focus on long-range development.

Another distinguished feature of CeRoM involves the synergy between tribology, materials science, microfabrication, modeling, mechanical systems analysis, and advanced sensing technology with the goal of developing a new generation of mechanical components and systems. Accordingly, the Center’s mission is to develop the technology and deliver the next generation of vital mechanical components and systems for industry to boost their economic competitive edge through innovation. In the scientific arena, successful multidisciplinary research required in integrating the micro- and macro- systems involves challenging open problems bridging multiple-length-scales. The development of next generation components as planned in this proposal has the potential to revolutionize the industry in terms of productivity, reliability, and global competitiveness. The progress made will also have a profound, positive impact on the current scientific state-of-the-art knowledge.
