FACILITIES
The Fatigue Tester is a compact, bench mounted unit consisting of a rigid welded frame, variable speed motor and control, variable throw crank connected to the reciprocating platen, a failure cut off circuit in the control box, and a cycle counter which will automatically shut off the machine after completion of pre-set number of cycles. The motor torque is transmitted through an elastomer- cushioned coupling to the main drive shaft to a test object through a connecting rod and reciprocating platen connected to the free end of the test specimen. The variable throw crank stroke is infinitely adjustable from 0 to 2 inches. The other end of the specimen is clamped in the adjustable vise assembly. To measure the temperature, thermocouples were anchored over the length of the specimen using epoxy.
